The casino originally opened in 1991 as Casino RAY at Hotel Presidentti. Casino Helsinki describes the opening as bringing an international casino atmosphere to the Finnish capital.
The operation was subsequently known as Grand Casino Helsinki. The official history does not provide a date for every naming stage, so this guide does not infer one.
The casino later moved to its current premises beside Helsinki Central Railway Station. The venue describes the location as spacious, modern and designed specifically for casino use.
